Sora 2 Daily Limits: Videos, Credits, Caps (2026)

Sora 2 Limits

Sora 2's limits are confusing because they work on two levels at once. You have a monthly credit pool (1,000 for Plus, 10,000 for Pro) and a daily rolling cap that prevents you from using them all at once. Even if you have credits left for the month, the daily cap stops you from generating more than a certain amount in 24 hours.

This system frustrates a lot of people because they pay for a monthly allocation and then can't actually use it at their own pace. Here's how it works and what you realistically get per day.

Daily Limits by Plan

Sora 2 Daily Limits (March 2026)
PlanMonthly CreditsDaily Cap~Videos Per DayMax Length
Plus ($20/mo)1,000~30 credits/day10-15 videos15 sec
Pro ($200/mo)10,000~100 credits/day30-50 videos25 sec
Pro (Relaxed mode)Unlimited overnightN/AUnlimited (slower)25 sec

The daily cap uses a rolling 24-hour window, not a midnight reset. Each credit becomes available again exactly 24 hours after you spent it. So if you generate a video at 3 PM, that credit frees up at 3 PM the next day.

Credit Costs Per Video

A 5-second video costs 1 credit. A 15-second video costs 2 credits. A 25-second Pro video costs 4 credits. Higher resolutions also cost more credits per video.

How Credits Work in Practice

With 30 daily credits on Plus, you can generate roughly 10-15 short videos or 5-7 longer 15-second clips. That sounds like a lot until you start iterating. Most people generate 3-4 versions of each concept to get something they're happy with, which means you're realistically producing 2-4 usable videos per day.

Pro at $200/month gives you much more headroom. But the real Pro advantage is Relaxed mode, which lets you queue unlimited generations overnight at slower processing speeds. If you don't mind waiting until morning, you can effectively bypass the daily cap.

What Happens When You Hit the Limit

  • You get an error message telling you to wait
  • You can't generate any new videos until credits roll back
  • No way to buy extra daily credits (the monthly pool doesn't help if the daily cap is reached)
  • Switching resolution or length doesn't bypass the cap

If you're consistently hitting Sora's daily limits, it might be worth looking at alternatives like Runway or Kling that have different limiting systems. For a broader comparison, check our guide to the best Sora alternatives.
